Find your way around
The Route on the front page is the whole highway, Ottawa to Peterborough. It has three views: The stops shows every town in order (tap one to open it), Road reports puts Ontario 511's construction and closures on a real map, and Waze traffic shows what drivers are reporting right now. Full screen lifts the map over the page.
Every town has its own page, with where to eat, things to do, shops, halls, places to stay and what's on there. Side towns a short drive off the 7, like Tweed or Smiths Falls, say how far and which road. See every town.
Every place and every event has its own page too. Tap a name anywhere on the site to open it. That page has the address, a Map link that opens your maps app, the business's own website, and a Share button for sending it to a friend.
Search is the magnifying glass at the top right of every page. Type a town, a place or an event.
Guides are the long reads: the Chip Truck Census, boat launches, beaches, trails, bingo nights and more.
What's on
The events calendar lists everything along the corridor by month. Use the town menu at the top to see one town only. Weekly things like markets and euchre nights always show their next date, so you never land on one that already happened.
Open any event and tap Add to calendar to put it in your phone, or Share to send it on. The front page picks three things for the coming weekend under This weekend.
Want it in your inbox instead? The Thursday email comes every other Thursday with what's on and what's worth the detour. It's free, and every issue is also on the site.
On the road
Drive it is the page to check before you leave: roads, weather along the route, Waze traffic, highway cameras, gas and EV chargers, and in winter the road surface. Each panel says when it was last checked. Tap a heading further down the page to open the sections you need.
Where am I on the 7? uses your phone's location to show where you are on the highway and what's coming up in the direction you're driving: the next town, gas, a chip truck, a place to eat, a beach or boat launch, and what's on today ahead. Your location stays on your phone; it is never sent to us. Open it once with a signal and it keeps working through the dead spots.
Put it on your home screen and it opens like an app. On an iPhone, open onthe7.ca in Safari, tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three dots, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
Send us something
On the 7 is built from what people along the road tell us. Everything is free to send, and we check it against a real source before it goes up.
- Send an event: a fair, a supper, a show, a market.
- Add a place: your business, hall or a spot you love.
- Send a photo of your town or the road.
- Tell us about a place you've been.
- Send a correction if we got something wrong.
Questions about any of it? Get in touch. One address, and we answer.
