Mathison Conservation Area
The township's 100-hectare nature property on the north side of the village, donated by John Mathison in 2001. Mature sugar maple forest, wetlands and old fields, with about 2.7 km of short, wide, level trail (none of it over a kilometre) and side paths out to lookouts over the wetland. Rebuilt in 2023 and wheelchair accessible. Walking and cycling, dogs on a leash, free parking and no fee. Come early or late for birds; the township names Red-bellied Woodpecker and Yellow-throated Vireo among the breeders.
